Minimalist Skincare Routine

Minimalist Skincare Routine

Minimalist skincare routine – what does that even mean? Well coming from a Colorado girl who’s in the dead of winter right now, I’m going to tell you about my favorite products year-round, whether you’re hitting the ski slopes or jetting off to somewhere tropical, I got you covered. Plus, I’ll touch on my favorite SPF for men, and if you’re even a one-trick pony, meaning, you just want one product, I got something for you, too!

For the skier:

When you’re on the slopes, you’re going to need three things: vitamin C to protect you from UVA and UVB radiation, a heavy duty protecting balm-like moisturizer, and a good sunscreen.

Now I’m going to warn you, you might leave out looking like a glazed doughnut being teased by your friends. They’ll be begging you for your routine later when everyone’s home from the slopes with awful sunburn and lines of demarcation from the goggles.

Now, when it comes to minimalist skin care, I suggest you don’t skimp on your products. You want a darn good vitamin C, serum, something that’s going to last, and we know for a fact it will stay in the skin the longevity you need it to. That’s why I always go to my trusted iS Clinical vitamin C serums. Their Pro-Heal, and Super Serum is shown to stay in the skin for up to eight days (they got bored and decided to end the study after eight days).

What does that mean? You are then protected from UVA and UVB radiation along with free radicals for up to eight days with just one application on the first day. Now good vitamin C serums like this also contain other nutrients that are going to help you day in and day out.  Whether it’s taking care of your rosacea and sensitive skin or your breakout prone and hyperpigmented skin, I do suggest daily application to get the most benefit out of your product.

Next on my list: iS Clinical Sheald Recovery Balm (I do promise I like product lines other than iS Clinical, but bear with me on this one). Think of your mother’s Vaseline, but NOT that greasy, yet just as protective, shealding, and enriched with ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin e. We’re talking ultra protective and healing, so you’ll be the cool kid passing this around to help relieve everyone’s wind and sunburned skin. Plus, you could use it on your lips. If things get really wild, it’s even good to heal raw skin before a scab has formed- straight hero!

Last but not least- sunscreen. You’re out on the slopes, carrying light, and you don’t have time to fiddle with tubes of lotion. You want to make things quick and simple for easy reapplication – because after all, that’s where most of us go wrong- is reapplication.

My secret for this one: Colorscience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50. In a compact tube, you can stick it in your pocket, and easily apply it in between runs, just don’t drop it while you’re on the ski lift. Simply brush it on and you’re back to being protected, plus you can choose your shade for a little added coverage.

For the Snowbird:

You’re headed somewhere warm, you’re going to be sweating, and traveling so packing light is a must. Plus margaritas might be involved so it’s important that we really bring our skin protection.

You already know what’s in my arsenal: Vitamin C - see the pattern here? Remember, a good one lasts in the skin longer than just a day!

When it comes to getting beach-ready, we all want that fresh face, JLo glow.  My new favorite: Sorella’s Tinted Dew Drops. Not only do they come in shades for everyone, but they’re also filled with hydrating squalene and powerful antioxidants to provide protection to your skin from extra elements. Did I mention the drops are sweat-proof for 40 mins?

And if you’re a bro reading this and have made it this far thinking, are all of these products good for men? Why hasn’t she mentioned facial care for men yet? I got you!  Roll with the same vitamin C serum to the moisturizer. The powder SPF comes in translucent, but if you’re not into that, Colorescience comes through with the Sunforgettable Total Protection Sport Sticks SPF 50!

For the everyday minimalist:

This is the perfect routine for the person who has lessened their makeup coverage over the years, striving for a more simple routine, this is for you.

You already know where my heart’s at with vitamin c serums, but your Pomp esthetician can direct you to the best one that works for you.  Next, I highly recommend a good moisturizer based on your skin type.  We have a plethora that range from normal to dry and oily to breakout prone.  Plus if you’re really wanting to take it up a notch, you can have a moisturizer that also combats aging and hyperpigmentation.  One of my favorites is Age Intervention Duality by Jan Marini.

Looking for your vitamin c and a moisturizer in one? Glymed’s Vitamin C Cream is a dream!  And speaking of dreams, there’s an endless supply of night-time moisturizers that basically compare to a facial treatment while you sleep.  Might I recommend Sorella's Facial in a Bottle.

Pair any of these combos with your go-to cleanser, and you have a simple, yet necessary and beneficial routine.

The possibilities are endless working with your Pomp Licensed Esthetician! There’s simplicity for everyone regardless of your skincare goals, or what’s in your wallet.

*As always, please speak with your assigned esthetician to decide which products are right for you!
